About Us
The Greater Manchester, Lancashire and South Cumbria Medicines for Children Research Network (GMLC) is based at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Manchester. The hospital is the regional tertiary centre for children, and after moving to the main Trust campus in June 2009 has become the largest children’s hospital in Europe. GMLC is led by Network Director Professor Peter Clayton, a University of Manchester child health academic and Honorary Consultant Endocrinologist at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. The network is overseen by a Board who assist with strategic development and ensure GMLC fulfils its aims and objectives, including national targets.
GMLC comprises of a team of dedicated research staff who help local researchers to increase the number of children enrolled into Medicines for Children Research Network (MCRN) adopted clinical trials and other research studies. Information on study adoption can be found here.
The network aims to help in 3 key areas:
1. Provide support for MCRN studies
2. Support Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
3. Promote paediatric research in the region
